Do I need a water softener?
If you live in a hard water area (London, Hertfordshire, Essex, much of the south east — all hard) and see limescale on kettles, taps, showers, or inside appliances, a softener pays for itself in appliance lifespan, boiler efficiency, and reduced cleaning. Hertfordshire and North London are particularly hard water areas.
How much does installation cost?
£300 to £800 plus VAT depending on softener size, brand, and installation location. Includes mains isolation, new bypass valve, drain connection, and commissioning.
What softener brands do you fit?
Kinetico, Harvey, BWT, EcoWater, TwinTec, Monarch, Tapworks. Electric and non-electric models. We help choose based on household size, water hardness, and budget.
Does it need maintenance?
Yes — refill with softener salt every 4-6 weeks (typical family home). We can also service annually to check valves, resin bed, and efficiency.
Is there a call-out fee?
No separate call-out fee. We don't add a travel or attendance surcharge. Time spent inspecting, testing and diagnosing the fault is chargeable at our labour rate (minimum one hour). We quote a fixed price for any further repair work before any of it starts, and you're under no obligation to approve additional repairs.
Do you guarantee the install?
1-year parts guarantee on everything we fit. Plus the manufacturer warranty on the softener itself (varies by brand, typically 2-10 years).
