UFH installation FAQs
Wet or electric underfloor heating — which is right?
Wet (water-based) UFH is more efficient for large areas and whole-floor heating; works with your existing boiler/heat pump. Electric is cheaper to install for small areas (one bathroom or a kitchen) but more expensive to run. We advise based on your space and usage.
Can you install UFH in an existing home?
Yes — retrofit low-profile systems go on top of existing floors with 15-25mm height gain. Works well in kitchens, bathrooms, and single-room upgrades. For full ground-floor retrofits, we survey first to confirm feasibility.
How much does UFH installation cost?
£1,000 to £5,000+ plus VAT, depending on area and wet vs electric. Small electric bathroom install: £1,000-£1,500. Single-room wet UFH: £1,500-£2,500. Full ground-floor wet install: £3,000-£5,000+.
Which systems do you install?
All major UK UFH brands — Nu-Heat, Uponor, Polypipe, Warmup. Smart controls from Heatmiser, Tado, Honeywell integrate with any of the systems.
Do I need a new boiler?
Usually no — wet UFH works with most modern boilers. A larger demand (e.g. whole ground floor plus your existing radiators) may need a bigger boiler; we confirm during survey.
How long does install take?
Small electric retrofits: 1-2 days. Single-room wet UFH: 2-3 days. Full ground-floor wet UFH with new floor: 3-5 days. Confirmed in the quote.
Is the installation guaranteed?
1-year parts guarantee on everything we fit. Most UFH systems come with a separate manufacturer guarantee on the pipework (25-50 years depending on brand) which we register as part of the install.
