When is an electric boiler the right choice?
When you have no mains gas (off-grid properties, newer flats, converted buildings), when a flue is impractical (apartments, listed buildings), when space is limited, or when simplicity matters. Electric boilers have no combustion, no flue, no gas safety requirements, and take up less space than a gas boiler.
How much does installation cost?
£1,500 to £3,000 +VAT depending on boiler size, brand, and whether any electrical supply upgrade is needed. We quote a fixed price after a free on-site survey — the price you agree is the price you pay.
What brands do you install?
All major UK electric boiler brands — EHC (Electric Heating Company), Elnur Mattira, Heatrae Sadia, Flexiheat, Thermaflow, Gledhill, Trianco and others. We can advise on the best fit for your property, existing system (radiators + pipework), and load demand.
Do I need to upgrade my electrical supply?
Usually not — most domestic supplies handle a modest electric boiler (6-12kW). Larger boilers (15-18kW+) may need a supply upgrade which adds to the cost. We check this during the survey and include any upgrade in the fixed quote.
How long does installation take?
A like-for-like swap is typically 1 day. A first-install (no existing wet system) can take 2-3 days if radiators + pipework are also new. We confirm the duration in the quote.
What warranty comes with the boiler?
Most electric boilers come with a 2-7 year manufacturer warranty (varies by brand and model). Our installation includes registration of the warranty with the manufacturer. Annual service keeps it valid.
Do you remove the old boiler?
Yes — safe removal and disposal of the old boiler + cylinder (where applicable) is included in our quote. You get the old unit taken away and the new one fully commissioned.
Could the final price be more than the quoted range?
Once we quote after the survey, the price you agree is the price you pay. If during install we find an unforeseen issue (e.g. wiring requiring a qualified electrician beyond our scope), we explain it, quote separately, and only proceed with your approval.
